FIRST Robotics Team 5070 "Gearnotics" Needs An Eng Mentor
Dateline Jan 11, 2015:

A local FIRST Robotics team is looking for an engineering mentor or two to help in the design and building of a robot to compete in this year's game- Recycle Rush.   The commitment will be a lot of weekend time for the next six weeks as the team builds a robot.   This team, Gearnotics, participated for the first time last year- and they definitely can use some professional help.

Their chief mentor tells us "Team 5070 Gearnotics is a community based team. The team members come from Home school, Charter schools, Private school, and public schools where they do not have access to STEM experiences. The team currently meets at the Bot Shop LLC office (7400 Gulf Freeway Houston TX 77017). We are in need of an engineer mentor to provide our learners a better STEM experience in the FIRST competition than we had last year.  Our team has all of the necessary equipment to get started.

The FIRST program gives the students a chance to learn real life skills.  Not everyone works on the robot, but on team 5070 that is the place that they need the most help.   A background in Course 2, 10, or 16 would be useful, but not necessary.  Anyone who could help with mechanical design, circuit design, or programming would be welcome.

If you are interested, please contact Marilyn Taggi Cisar at first@mithouston.org
